One of the first things I am asked at Celtic Games and Fairs is whether or not I do custom work. It is true that I have a sizable collection of goodies that I can make at any time, a large part of what I do at my shop is custom work. From wedding rings to drum tuning heads, I have made just about everything under the sun.
The most visible of the custom work I have done have undoubtedly been the items I have made for the band Albannach. To date I have made all the jewelry available at the performances, their drum-stands, bags for most of the band, and more... not to mention Jamesie's dirk, the knife often taking center-stage during their song "Claymores".
On several occasion I have outfitted entire pipe bands or marching bands with custom items. If you are looking for something separate your group from the rest, custom items (pins, pendants, and accessories) are definitely the way to go.
There are a couple of big advantages that come with custom items. The first is that you will get exactly the piece you want. I have done everything from miniature helmets to outfit Davey Morrison's warrior sculptures to camping sets, so you can bet I will be able to work out whatever custom ideas you may have. Another plus is that you give me a little creative freedom to really make something unique. I have a unique background as a jeweler, and I bring things to the table that many others don't.
What is the best way to get a unique item that you haven't seen anywhere else? Shoot me an e-mail and let me know what you have in mind. I can accommodate most orders, and as you can see in my custom gallery, I take on almost any project.
